FIRST STEPS INTO A NEW UNIVERSE
The Bang Gang made this jam in 1981 and it came out on Sugarscoop. Made by the prolific Bobby Orlando (he produced an astonishing amount of music in the 80's and 90's) this track has a much more boogie orientated feel than the Hi NRG sound to which he is normally associated with. Most notable amongst his releases was probably Passion by the Flirts. I've always found him quite interesting (and not in a nice way) - it turns out he was a religious nut, a rabid homophobe who was also known to make the gayest music ever heard. He was pretty short, had an extraordinary amount of confidence, he set up labels and produced tunes for a variety of paying clients. The other day, I accidentally stumbled across this hilarious quote by Bobby O, which appeared originally in the music magazine The Face circa 1987: "I regard each record I make as worthless and useless like anybody else's...Anybody who thinks their music is something special is worshiping a false doctrine. There is nothing that any artist can say that is really of any importance because anything other than Gid's word is laced with the evil and has to be regarded as sin tainted".
Anyway, bang the hell out of this upfront gay jam - I've uploaded the vocal and instrumental versions of the tune - it's called "Street Music". 320kbps too
